Patient update: Autumn and Winter Vaccination Programme 2022/23

You may have seen on the news that the autumn/winter Covid Booster and flu vaccination campaign has started. We are very pleased to announce that Ely Primary Care Network will once again be offering the vaccinations to our patients.

This means that eligible patients who are registered with the following surgeries – Burwell Surgery, Cathedral Medical Centre, Haddenham Surgery, St George’s Medical Centre, St Mary’s Surgery, and Staploe Medical Centre – will be able to book for their FREE flu vaccination and Covid Booster at a local surgery.

Joining Staploe Medical Centre and Cathedral Medical Centre this year are St Mary’s Surgery and St George’s Medical Centre, who have kindly offered to host clinics too. Patients will be offered an appointment at one of these four sites.

Those who are eligible include everyone aged over 50, people under 50 who are in at-risk groups, care home residents, housebound patients, health and social care staff, carers and pregnant women. Once again, our priority will be to vaccinate our older and most at-risk patients first, as well as health and social care staff.

The local clinics will be held mostly on Saturdays from beginning October through to mid-December. There will be some regular evening clinics too.

Patients will be offered the Covid-19 Booster vaccine and Seasonal Flu vaccine, at the same appointment. They are still separate vaccines.

The Covid-19 vaccines we have available are the Pfizer Comirnaty Bivalent vaccine and the Moderna Spikevax Bivalent vaccine. Please note that we will only be offering Covid-19 booster vaccinations, not first course vaccinations. Patients who have never had a Covid-19 vaccination before should contact 119.

You do not need to do anything more at this point - we will contact you when it is your turn.
